This class will focus on the principals of oil painting as we explore the color wheel, lighting
and composition using the still life as a subject. We will learn how to create atmosphere
and spacial relationships. The students will be introduced to contemporary methods as
well as the techniques of the masters. The classes are limited in size to provide individual
attention and encouragement as the student finds their own expression. A program
designed for the beginner as well as the intermediate painter.
Portrait Class: Thursday 3-6:00
This class is open to all levels. We will begin with the basic anatomy of the head and
hands and address flesh tones, lighting and composition.
We will explore the individual palette of each model in the manner of the impressionist
school of portraiture.
This is a “paint-a-long” class with Pamela so that the student can benefit from the step
by step building process and thinking as she makes reference to examples on her own
canvas. A unique opportunity to share in the development of a portrait over a period of
multiple model sittings.
We will only work from live models each sitting a minimum of three classes.
The session is six classes, tuition $275. plus shared model fee.
Classes are limited in size so early registration is suggested. New session starting April

tailored to each artist’s challenges facing them at the time.
